Since Forever in Midwest Record

31 August 2009
Midwest Record
Chris Spector

A little bit of stealth superstar date as the guy that launched careers of other jazz luminaries comes in with his third for the label hooking up with pals form Oregon and Pat Metheny for a new age/jazz date that almost survives on a plain all it's own. A deft composer and player, Simon may not record as frequently as his fans would like, but when he does come by for an audio visit, it's a well received one loaded with the warmth of an over due Christmas homecoming. Tipping his jazzbo hat to Miles/Zawinul along the way as well, it's hard to believe he's been plying his trade for 30 years. If you don't know what you're getting into here, follow the piano man into a blind taste test and come away amazed.
