Seize The Time in Midwest Record

31 August 2009
Midwest Record
Chris Spector

Can a Jewish kid from Chicago play civil rights jazz authentically when it peaked when he was probably still in diapers? Well, he does put his own spin to it which is probably a good thing if you wan to sell records since times have changed in the last 40 years and a lot of the old stuff still lingers in cut out bins in flea markets. Bringing chops and cats with chops to the fore, Sirota and company ply your ears with progressive jazz that's radical in that it has a beginning, middle and end. He also fuses in all kinds of other things that interethnic as well. A leading purveyor of sitting down jazz, this is a great soundtrack for your next radical chic party.
