A wee smidgen of Nashville is creeping into Bristol's big bass sound thanks to the country soulsters Phantom Limb. Imagine the Mad Professor helming an album of Crosby, Still and Nash covers by Aretha Franklin and you'll get their classy vibe. Exquisitely lunged chanteuse Yolanda Quarty explained: "There's a new scene in Bristol called Brashville. It's Nashville country with a whole lot of Bristol attitude." Yolanda, 25, met her band half cut at a party. She reveals: "They heard me screaming at the top of voice, but it took six years to get the band together because we partied so hard." Yolanda also moonlights as a vocalist for West Country legends Massive Attack. She said: "I've sung for so many local bands including the new Massive album. "I think fans will be pleased with it as it is more reminiscent of their earlier stuff." Which begs the question when can we expect the Portsihead collaboration?
