Out 'n' In in California Chronicle

04 January 2010
California Chronicle
Rich Scheinin

The young British band is fascinating and ambitious. To celebrate what would have been Eric Dolphy's 80th birthday in 2008, it put together a concert tribute -- and now this disc, which captures the intelligence and free spirit of the late multi-reedist. This album is tight, imaginative and heartfelt, putting a new spin on Dolphy's vision and ripening with every listen.
