Gwyneth Herbert in Red Hot Velvet

01 November 2010
Red Hot Velvet

FULL REVIEW HERE

The Jazz singer-songwriter returns with an album of new remixes of her older songs. With just nine tracks, and only 33 minutes of music, this is more of an extended ep, but it covers a lot of ground. From the accappella version of Midnight Oil, with its haunted vocal performance which finishes the album, to the catchy radio edit of Perfect Fit, the release finds the vocal of Gwyneth Herbert in fine form, and although the fingerprints of the various remixers (which include Seb Roachford of Polar Bear fame, Temper D and Mr Solo and the Voluntary Bulter scheme) it is more of an easy collaboration than might have easily have been the case.
