Time Out London review trioVD - 'X'

If the X Factor induces the sick-making feeling of getting shitfaced on Tia Maria then trioVD's ‘X' EP is the relatively welcome alternative of a speedball with Absinthe chaser. This often surreal, febrile, scissor-handed mash up of broken beat thrash, ambient soundscapes and wonky electro takes direct inspiration from each of the four judges in a cerebral repost to the show's populist agenda. Opening with ‘Tulisa' the hectic robo-thrash soon gives way to ‘Walsh', a pseudo Irish jig with pisstake powerballad sax solo, while ‘Barlow' features an unsettling reimagining of ‘Everything Changes But You'. It's the perfect Bizzaro Xmas number one. Mike Flynn
