Tellison's Stephen Davidson describes the inspiration behind the heartbreaking, festive download.
"Good Luck It's Christmas" is my first attempt at a Christmas song. I wrote it on Sunday 27th of November 2011 just before going to work. I often write best with a fast approaching deadline. I'd been trying to write a proper Christmas song for a while and found it truly difficult. In fact I'd all but given up when I found part of a lyric written down in an old notebook and thought it might be easier to incorporate Christmas into a song without the song itself being all about Christmas. The original lyric forms the basis of the song and, in context, Christmas just becomes a reason why "Good Luck" ought to come back. There's something about using Christmas as justification for getting what you want that seems to fit quite well in a bittersweet way. It's a time when things are supposed to go right for once. The song itself is about being on a run of bad luck and wishing it would end. In fact it's about being so desperate for it to end that you're willing to invoke something as meaningful and meaningless as Christmas in an attempt to lure it back to you. Over the years we've lost some close friends to suicide and it seemed fitting that we raise money for CALM in a small way to try to help at a time of year that is going to be hard for a lot of people.
So help make someones Christmas a little easier this year, download and donate to CALM with Tellison's "GoodLuck It's Christmas" HERE
