Last year, Fun Lovin'Criminal and award winning BBC Radio DJ Huey Morgan released his debut solo album ‘Say It To My Face'. Not completely ‘solo' in as much as it provided Huey an opportunity to collaborate with many musical friends from both sides of the ocean and freed him up to write in a more idiosyncratic style that perhaps better reflects his tobacco flavoured bluesy tones, as the 44 year old veteran of both the U.S Marine Corps and the music business at its most excessive. Admirably sentimental about his time in the military, Huey has pledged his cut of all record sales to military charities on both sides of the Atlantic.
Huey has had an exciting 2012, whilst balancing family life, pouring his heart and soul into his debut solo album, he has also found time to launch a tattoo parlour with old friend Ami James, the world renowned tattoo artist of Miami Ink and NY Ink television fame. Love Hate Social Club is now open just off Notting Hill's Portobello Road.
The New Yorkers, a virtuosic super group of Huey's dearest friends from the New York blues scene, with whom he could often be found playing lapsteel guitar in a dingy nightspot back in the day, comprise of Chris Scianni (guitars), King (bass), Pete Levin (keys) and Frank Benbini (also of Fun Lovin' Criminals fame).
Having blown the roof off London's Bush Hall in November of last year, Huey and the New Yorkers hit the road in March 2013 playing intimate venues across the UK and beyond.
