Giorgio Serci is one of Europe's most diverse session guitarists, an incredible live performer and top instrumental educator.

Biography

Giorgio Serci was born in San Gavino Monreale, Sardinia. An island enriched by a myriad of cultures including African, Arabic, Spanish and Roman. Similarly, Giorgio's musical palette has been influenced by music from all over the world. After travelling, studying and performing in different parts of the globe he is establishing himself as guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher.

He began as a self-taught guitarist at the tender age of 13. Later, he went on to study classical guitar with Marco Meloni at the "Nuova Accademia" and Jazz in Ravenna, Italy with John Scofield, John Surman and Tony Oxley.

In 1994 he moved to London to study at Goldsmiths College, receiving a Diploma in Jazz and Popular Music and a Diploma in Music Teaching. He then went on to study composition and arrangement for Jazz Orchestra at the City Lit College.

He has arranged music for several projects including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC, violinist Anete Gaudine, and guitarist Antonio Forcione. He has played with Julian Lloyd-Webber, Ronu Majumdar, Vic Juris, The Royal Family of Jordan and Rony Barrak. Through these experiences, he has mixed the rhythms and scales of India, Arabia and Brazil with jazz and flamenco techniques.

Giorgio has written, recorded or performed with Bob Stuckey, Shirley Bassey, Andy Shepperd, Shima Kobayashi, Ryuko Mizutani, Antonio Forcione, Eduardo Niebla, comedian Boothby Graffoe, Ross Noble and Denys Baptiste.

Giorgio is a degree lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guilford and is also a columnist for Acoustic Magazine in the United Kingdom.
